U.S., in new EV supply chain push, sets sights on China

U.S. government officials, citing national security and economic concerns, plan to meet with automakers and lithium miners as part of a first-of-its-kind effort to launch a domestic electric vehicle supply chain strategy. China dominates the EV supply chain and produces nearly two-thirds of the world’s lithium ion batteries — compared to 5 percent for the U.S.
